AI is changing healthcare

Let's make sure clinicians understand it

About AI Rx

AI education for people who actually
work in healthcare

  • AI has arrived quickly. The education hasn't always kept up. Clinicians are already being asked to use new tools, assess new products, advise colleagues and make decisions about technologies many of us were never formally taught.
  • We created AI Rx to help close that gap
  • We are Dr Stephen Ojo, Dr Abid Nisar and Dr Mark Ragoo – three clinicians with a shared interest in how artificial intelligence can be used intelligently, safely and practically in healthcare.
  • AI Rx began with us teaching clinicians face to face. Those sessions taught us something important. People didn't need another lecture about how revolutionary AI was going to be. They wanted answers to much more practical questions.
  • What is actually useful? What can I trust? What am I allowed to do? And where do I even start?
  • AI Rx has grown from those conversations into a wider educational collaborative: a collection of courses designed to help healthcare professionals understand and use AI throughout different parts of their working lives.

Our Philosophy

We build curriculum around safety
and realism

We cut through the hype. Clinicians don't need marketing slides; they need robust, practical skills.

  • We teach healthcare first

We start with the work healthcare professionals actually do – seeing patients, finding evidence, teaching, researching, improving services and dealing with an extraordinary amount of administration. The technology comes second.

  • We show you where AI fails

A tool producing a spectacular result is interesting. A tool producing a convincing wrong answer is probably more important. We deliberately explore limitations, bias, hallucination, governance and failure – because using AI well means knowing when not to trust it.

  • We use the right format for the lesson

Not everything needs a twenty-minute video lecture. Sometimes the best explanation is a short written piece. Sometimes you need to watch a tool being used. Sometimes an annotated screenshot explains something in thirty seconds that would take five minutes to describe. The format follows the learning – not the other way around.

  • We teach from experience

Our courses have grown out of teaching healthcare professionals through Royal College events, NHS organisations, postgraduate education programmes and international meetings. The questions clinicians ask in those rooms continue to shape what we teach here.

  • We don't expect you to become a computer scientist

Most healthcare professionals do not need to know how to build an artificial intelligence system. They do need to know enough to make sensible decisions about one. That's the distinction our courses are built around.

Bespoke Programmes

Need Something Tailored for Your Organisation?

We create bespoke AI training programmes designed around your team's needs, workflows and objectives.

  • Customised to your specific goals and challenges
  • Delivered in your preferred format (onsite or online)
  • Branded to your organisation (if required)
  • When AI is useful There are tasks these systems can already make dramatically easier. We want you to recognise them – and know how to use the technology well enough to benefit.

  • When AI is wrong AI can produce answers that are fluent, plausible and completely incorrect. Understanding that failure mode is not an optional extra. It is part of learning to use the technology safely.

  • When the answer is ‘it depends’ Healthcare is complicated. The right answer often depends on the tool, the patient, the information being used, your organisation and the decision you are trying to make.

How It Works

Your learning path is straightforward

  • Step 1 Choose your course

Start with the Foundation course if you are new to AI, or explore one of the more focused courses if you already know what you want to learn.

  • Step 2 Learn at your own pace

Work through the material when it suits you. Courses include videos, written learning, demonstrations, examples and practical resources.

  • Step 1 Use what you've learned

Take the ideas back into your clinical work, teaching, research, improvement projects or leadership. Then return when you're ready for the next thing.

Yes. Safety, responsibility, confidentiality, bias and governance are core.

  • Can you deliver training for organisations?

Yes. We offer bespoke education for departments and healthcare organisations.

You don't need to learn everything about AI.

You need to understand enough to know what matters. Start with the foundations, then follow the subjects that matter to your work.
