Dr Mark Ragoo MBBS, FRCEM, FHEA, PgDip Health Informatics, MBA

Dr Mark Ragoo is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, clinical informatician, educator and healthcare leader. Since becoming a consultant in 2010, he has combined frontline clinical practice with leading digital transformation and improving the design and implementation of complex healthcare systems. In recent years, his work has increasingly focused on artificial intelligence and its safe, practical application in healthcare.

Mark was the founding Chair of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine’s Special Interest Group for Informatics and Digital Health. He is also a co-author of the IFEM white paper, Advancing Patient Care through Technology and Data Analytics.

Mark was involved in the development of the IFEM Academy as its Project Manager and now serves as Vice Dean for Governance and Sustainability. The Academy provides accessible, high-quality educational resources for emergency care professionals worldwide. His own international teaching has covered artificial intelligence, clinical informatics, evidence synthesis, virtual care and the practical implementation of digital technologies in healthcare.

Within the NHS, Mark currently serves as a Medical Informatics Officer, bridging the gap between frontline clinical practice and the design and implementation of electronic patient record systems. This experience has given him a particular interest in what happens when technology meets the realities of healthcare - and why successful digital transformation requires a deep understanding of both clinical work and information systems.

He holds postgraduate qualifications in health informatics, medical education, healthcare leadership and management, as well as an MBA. He is also a founding member of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.

Mark’s approach to AI education is practical, questioning and safety-conscious. He believes healthcare professionals do not need to become computer scientists, but they do need enough understanding to recognise when AI is useful, identify when it may be unreliable and know when human judgement must take precedence. His teaching is designed to turn AI from an abstract or intimidating subject into something healthcare professionals can assess and use confidently in their own work.

Healthcare professionals are being told that artificial intelligence will transform the way we work. But for many people, there is still a large gap between hearing about AI and knowing how to use it safely and effectively in everyday practice.

That is why we created AIRX.

AIRX is practical AI education designed specifically for healthcare professionals. We are not here to teach technology for technology’s sake. Every course is built around a simple question: by the end of this course, what will you be able to do that you could not do before?

Our courses are created by clinicians who understand the realities of healthcare - the time pressure, the governance requirements and the responsibility that comes with using these tools.

We make complex ideas clear, practical and immediately usable, without losing sight of safety, ethics or professional accountability.

AI will increasingly become part of healthcare. Our aim is to help healthcare professionals understand it, use it confidently and remain firmly in control of it.

That is the purpose of AIRX.

You don't need to learn everything about AI.

You need to understand enough to know what matters. Start with the foundations, then follow the subjects that matter to your work.
